ASK vision: "for a safe, crime-free community"

ASK recognises the importance of "early intervention" as a means to prevent children and young people drifting into crime at an older age.  It places a strong emphasis on working with young people, children and their families to focus on fostering greater resiliency through the protective factors of family, education, community and peers.

Jess Ward Kapiti Champion

Jess is the Principal of Paraparaumu Beach School. She has a long association with education in Kapiti and is involved in a number of school ad community-based networks.

"Growing great Kiwi kids is park of our core business. I get a lot of joy out of working with young people, their teachers, families and whanau. When I see happy, exuberant children playing or young minds passionate about learning, I want that for all our children-it's what they are entitled to.

For every child and adult in our Kapiti Coast community to thrive we need to stand up to family violence. It is not ok to verbally or physically abuse others.  It is not ok to inflict mental and emotional abuse on others.

Seeking help and talking about your problems is the first step and the Champions against Family Violence in our community are here to support you as you take this first step.

We will not judge you - just reach out

We have to protect our kids from the sights, sounds and acts of family violence, in order to give them the great kiwi upbringing they are entitled to'
