Debs Phillips Kapiti Champion
Introducing Debs Phillips:
I am a mother to three awesome girls, two who are still young, and a grandson! I've only been living in the Kapiti Coast for 2 years and there's no place I'd rather be!!
Why did you volunteer to be a Champion?
In my role as a Nurse and a Plunket Nurse, I've learned so much about Family Violence and how it doesn't always mean physical violence - for some women it might be financial control (not letting you have an eftpos card, demanding to know how you spend your money), or emotional abuse (put downs, that feeling of walking on egg shells). I really want everyone and anyone to feel brave enough to speak up and ask for help, or even to chat to someone and say "I wonder if that's me?". I can be a person you might want to chat to if you see me out and about.
Where can people find you?
You might see me dropping my girls to day care and school. In my spare time I will be at the Seido Karate Dojo, (Monday and Thursday nights, Kapiti Primary School, 6pm), sometimes at City Fitness Gym, or at work at the local Plunket Rooms on Amohia St.
